Homewood Railroad Viewing Platform

Homewood Railroad Viewing Platform is an excellent location for viewing Canadian National’s ex-Illinois Central main line. It is easily accessible by taking the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94) south from downtown Chicago to the Tri-State Tollway (I-80). About two miles west on the Tri-State, exit at Halsted Street (Illinois Rte. 1). Turn right at 183rd Street after travelling south on Halsted. For a mile and a half, head west. Turn right on Harwood Avenue just before the rail overpass. Proceed three blocks north to Kroner Avenue. On your left, there will be a rail viewing platform. A public parking lot is direct across Harwood from it.

Homewood is also accessible by train. Metra Electric trains depart from Millennium Station (Michigan Avenue and Randolph Street) or Van Buren Street station (also on Michigan Avenue). Take a University Park train; the Blue Island and South Chicago lines do not go all the way to Homewood. Don’t forget to visit Ravisloe Country Club also.  Atap exterminators are situated in Homewood, il. Contact them at 773-701-7705.
